Summary Statement

The Division of Family Services (DFS) is seeking a motivated intern to support efforts related to contract outcomes, performance measures, and data gathering. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in child welfare and human services while contributing to projects that support the safety, well-being, and permanency of children and families in Delaware.

Interns will assist with case reviews to gather data, analyze performance measures, and contribute to the development of reports that help evaluate the effectiveness of services provided. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in Excel, and able to think creatively when compiling and interpreting data.

Essential Functions

About the Internship:
  • Assist in gathering and reviewing case information to support contract outcome evaluation and performance measure tracking
  • Analyze data collected from case files and other sources to identify trends, gaps, and outcomes
  • Support the development of reports and data summaries for internal use and stakeholder review
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other tools to organize, interpret, and present data
  • Collaborate with DFS staff to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Participate in meetings or briefings related to project goals, performance metrics, or quality improvement
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with agency policies
  • Contribute creative ideas for improving data presentation and reporting methods
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned to support division initiatives and priorities

Ideal Candidate Qualifications: 
  1. Currently pursuing an Assoicates, Bachelors or Master's degree in behavioral health, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field?
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  3. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative with routine tasks

Conditions of Hire

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Selection Process
