Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position provides nursing services including, but not limited to direct nursing care assessments, nursing care plans, and coordination of health care services for the residents. The incumbent will also supervise and evaluate the care provided to the residents by the certified nursing assistants. In addition, regular contact with residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, dietary, pharmacy administration and other ancillary departments of the facility is required.

Essential Functions

  • Administers treatments as directed.
     
  • Takes and records vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration).
     
  • Pours, administers, charts and records medications.
     
  • Gives prescribed intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and inoculations.
     
  • Observes patient behavior and condition and reports changes to appropriate staff. 
     
  • Records information on patients' charts.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
  2. At least eighteen months experience as a Practical Nurse.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.

Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
