The Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families' (The Delaware Children’s Department) primary responsibility is to provide and manage a range of services for children who have experienced abandonment, abuse, adjudication, mental illness, neglect, or substance abuse. Each participating elementary school in the K-5 Early Intervention Program is assigned one Family Crisis Therapist. The Family Crisis Therapist works with identified children and families whose behavior impedes their learning process and or the learning process of others. The interventions include addressing behaviors in the school and home through child and family interactions as well as home visits which help with child and parent skill building. The Family Crisis Therapist collaborates with school and other agency staff to provide comprehensive, holistic services. The interventions also help the parents to better advocate for and address their child’s issues. Interventions provided by the Family Crisis Therapist help children and families for whom traditional interventions have been unsuccessful.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Family Crisis Therapist
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
