A Certified
Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) is a highly trained expert who
specializes in working with individuals who are blind, low vision or who have
functional visual limitations, and empowers them to achieve independence in
their schools, work, and communities. COMS perform comprehensive assessments
and provide 1:1 instruction. COMS are a critical member of Individualized
Education Planning teams, they develop goals, submit grades, introduce GPS
technology as needed.
Must certified
as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist by the Academy of Certification of
Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)

Six months work
experience, internship, and/or coursework as Orientation and Mobility
