Collections Enforcement Officer

Summary Statement

This position's primary focus is to enforce the collection of judicial ordered receivables, primarily focusing on restitution owed to victims of crime. The tasks are completed using a variety of internal State databases and inter-agency agreements, in conjunction with private sector tools for tracing and financial accountability. It is also providing the primary back up to our cashiering functionality for all judicial branch agencies and Department of Correction receipting for Probationary fees. The employee assists in the preparation and mailing of all courts & Office of State Collection Enforcement (OSCCE) generated cash receipts and validated bank deposit slips within 2 business days in compliance with the State Budget and Accounting Policy Manual. 

AOC/OSCCE offices collect on behalf of the Judiciary, Department of Correction, and Child Support.

Establish, edit, and modify Debit accounts on behalf of the courts.

Serve as back-up processing Supreme Court Appeals and Information Desk

Assist other areas of the AOC as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Compute fiscal/financial transactions.
  • Reconcile transactions/accounts.
  • Classify and code fiscal and/or financial transactions.
  • Review to ensure compliance with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, rules, and regulations.
  • Record fiscal/financial transactions to various financial information systems.
  • Interact with public/private sector to provide/obtain information.
  • Compile information and/or develop reports for use by others.
  • Monitor balances and report discrepancies.
  • Participate in recommending systems and forms enhancements.

Job Requirements

  1. Six months experience in document processing which includes reviewing and evaluating records.
  2. Six months experience in interviewing clients to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.
  3. Six months experience in customer service such as providing prompt, accurate, and courteous service to customers seeking information, answering requests as quickly as possible, ensuring customers are satisfied with service, and responding to complaints.
  4. Six months experience in record keeping.
  5. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

Conditions of Hire

  • A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.
  • Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.
