Summary Statement

This position will develop, implement, and oversee oral health program delivery, regulatory compliance, quality, efficiency, calibration of professional staff for statewide oral health activities. Duties: participate in developing, maintaining, and creating operational, educational and training manuals, acts as liaison for agencies and healthcare professionals through collaborative efforts, deliver education, training and presentations to garner interest in programs, improve oral health literacy, access to care, improve oral health of public and reduce risk factors.

Essential Functions

  • Performs dental examinations of teeth and surrounding tissue utilizing x-rays and medical history records to determine dental treatment needs.
     
  • Provides dental services including but not limited to cleaning, scaling, bonding, fillings, extractions, restorations, oral surgery, pulp therapy for root canal treatment, simple bridgework, crown work, partial dentures, and installs space maintainers and prepares procedures for orthodontic appliances.
     
  • Prescribes and dispenses medication as required.
     
  • Administers local anesthesia, analgesia and sedation.
     
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates clinic staff.
     
  • Writes statistical and/or evaluative reports.
     
  • Provides emergency dental services to members of the community.  

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Dentist
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Delaware Dentist license or eligibility for a Delaware license.
