Delaware's Attorney General, the State's chief law enforcement officer, has a broad responsibility to combat crime, uphold civil rights, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in the First State.
In meeting this mission, Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented lawyers and staff in the Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud and Consumer Protection, and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.
Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
The Delaware Department of Justice seeks a Legal Administrative Specialist to provide support to Deputy Attorneys General in the Family Division, Child Support Enforcement Unit in New Castle County.
This position supports Deputy Attorneys General with a range of responsibilities, from daily calendar management to drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery. The workload is high-volume and fast-paced.
This Legal Administrative Specialist provides administrative and litigation support to Deputy Attorneys General and Paralegals within the Child Support Enforcement Unit across New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties, with the primary work location in New Castle County. Responsibilities include answering calls from the public; communicating with Family Court staff; preparing worksheets for use in court; maintaining case files; managing and distributing mail; and processing long-arm petitions under the guidance of a senior Deputy Attorney General.
This position also participates in the rotation of the main receptionist phone lines, as needed, and may interact with Family Court and the Division of Child Support Services to provide updates and status checks through FAMIS.
