Summary Statement

Principal responsibilities include the planning, requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, system integration, and documenting of software components of complex, multi-tier government systems.

Responsible for evaluating user requests for new programs, modifications to existing programs, and system integration of off the shelf Products.  Performs research and gathers relevant data to determine feasibility, appropriateness, and cost and time required.  Prepares detailed estimates in order to obtain approval to proceed.  Prepares detailed program specifications.  Develops software according to approved specifications, tests and debug programs for the delivery of quality applications.  Creates system and user documentation.  Monitors ongoing program and system performance.  Provides training and mentors less experienced team members. Serves as Scrum Master for Leg Hall Applications.

The Software Engineer must be a fast learner with excellent communication and problem solving skills, and able to work with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.  The Software Engineer must be able to work well with a diverse group of team members to deliver software solutions on time, on budget and within specifications. The Software Engineer must be able to understand and be able to help team members understand and follow Agile/Scrum framework.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Software Engineer

  • Possess an associates degree in IT or related OR equivalent work experience.
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years’ technical experience in the development of web-based solutions with Agile/Scrum Master experience in the full system development lifecycle.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of IT experience focused on software development, report creation, system development lifecycle and application support.
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in service delivery working with systems developed by 3rd parties.
