Summary Statement

The Delaware Division of Health Care Quality is seeking Registered Nurses to be part of incident response teams (IRT).  These positions will support long term care (LTC) facilities such as skilled and intermediate nursing care facilities, assisted living facilities and rest residential homes, during the COVID-19 pandemic. IRT nurses will work under a supervisor and receive assignments throughout Delaware.  Work will include COVID-19 testing, vaccination, outreach, training and education on infection prevention methods and mitigation strategies in LTC facilities. This position is not intended to replace the responsibilities of the LTC facilities but will instead supplement existing operations.  This position will complete in person training on infection prevention and mitigation strategies with the Delaware Division of Public Health.

Selective Requirement

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements.  Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.

1. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving)

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

1. Knowledge of ensuring compliance with infection control laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

·       Conducts in-person onsite Incident Response Team (IRT) visits at Long Term Care facilities

·       Provides Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) support for Long Term Care Facilities

·       Completes physical facility assessments in areas such as staffing assignments, PPE usage and supply, cohorting of residents, and resident/staff testing.

·       Reports and documents onsite visit findings and assessments

·       Provides consultation and training to facility staff, connects staff with outside resources when needed

·       Assists with facility testing efforts.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or multi-state compact license.
