Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing Therapeutic therapy services to patients in an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Work includes: administering treatment, preparing treatment plans based on evaluations, evaluating effect of treatment. The incumbent assists individuals in performance of activities, using supportive devices and providing feedback to families and treatment teams involved in the patient's care.

THERAPIST

  • Administers treatment, applying knowledge of applicable therapy discipline. 
  • Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of individual's data.
  • Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Instructs, motivates and assists individuals in performance of various activities and use of support devices.
  • Instructs individuals, their families and other treatment staff in treatment procedures.
  • Prepares records and reports on individual's progress.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapist III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher.
  2. At least two years experience providing professional therapy services.
  3. Depending on job assignment possession of one of the following certification, license or registration:
  • Certified Music Therapist by the Certified Board for Music Therapists or eligible for certification.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or eligible for certification. 
  • Registered Art Therapist by the American Art Therapy Association or eligible for registration.
  • Registered Dance Therapist by the American Dance Therapy Association or eligible for registration.
  • Registered Drama Therapist by the National Association for Drama Therapy or eligible for registration.
