Summary Statement

Position is with the Office of the Secretary – Administration supporting the Division for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill and reports to Fiscal Manager. This is an Administrative supervisory position which oversees the Patient Finance Section. They are responsible for all patient revenue and expenses, which include claims/collection. They review, monitor, audit and approve all patient fund transactions. They are responsible for day-to-day operations in making sure all comply and process according to policy and procedures with appropriate approvals. Position performs and monitors daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports. They assist with budgeting, auditing, reconciling and reporting and assist the Fiscal Manager.

  • Ensures thorough investigation of patient assets and financial resources.
  • Ensures maximum recovery of patient care costs.
  • Ensures proper operation of patient trust and patient effects activities.
  • Presents statistical reports for use in budgetary planning.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates unit policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Administrator Financial Determination Section
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Three years experience in health care reimbursement which includes reviewing and categorizing claims for proper billing, analyzing cost reports, examining cost containment, and interpreting and analyzing laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards affecting reimbursement and recovery.
  2. Three years experience in accounting using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  3. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
  4. Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
  5. Knowledge of descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, mode or standard deviation.
