Summary Statement

Primary responsibility will be to assist the state's deer biologist implement the Delaware Hunters Against Hunger Program (DHAH) as well as assisting with wildlife disease sampling. Responsibilities will change seasonally. During the spring and summer, duties will entail contacting deer processors to assess interest in continuing to process donated venison for the DHAH program, assisting with hunting guide distribution as well as potentially assisting other biologists with wildlife projects.  Throughout the fall and winter hunting season, the incumbent will collect, and transport harvested deer that have been donated to the DHAH program for processing and distribute the processed meat to participating charitable organizations. The incumbent will also assist with disease sampling of deer (Chronic Wasting Disease, SARS-CoV-2, Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease). Tertiary duties include basic vehicle, equipment and building maintenance and record keeping. participating license agents across the state. This position supports research and monitoring work for the hunt-able species in Delaware.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Must be 18 years old
  2. Six months experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases.
  3. Knowledge of operating and maintaining equipment such as farming equipment, construction equipment, trucks, boats, or small motor equipment.
  4. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
