Due to the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, DTI has implemented temporary telecommuting arrangements for newly hired employees whose job duties are conducive to working from home. These arrangements are expected to be short term and will be monitored by DTI supervisors.

Summary Statement

The Principal responsibility is to ensure that the SECURITY OFFICE services are provided in a way that meets the needs of the customers (both DTI and other state agencies) in compliance with policy and procedures.

 

The services will be primarily rendered through a team of security administrators, although the LDSA is expected to be proficient in the disciplines supervised and provide direct support where required.  Specific functions will include the following.

 

1.    Staff supervision

a.     Identify and recommend optimal organizational alignments and staffing requirements

b.     Prepare Performance Plans and Development & Training plans

c.     Identify training opportunities for employees, ensuring staff stays current in an ever-changing discipline

d.     Direct day-to-day activities

e.     Develop staff through coaching, delegation, and stretch assignments

f.      Counsel employees on a continuous basis; perform periodic formal evaluations

g.     Interview potential candidates and make hiring recommendations

h.    Orientation of new employees

i.      As needed, prepare and carry out Remedial Action Plans for sub-performing employees

2.    Leadership

a.     Demonstrate a positive attitude toward management, coworkers, and customers; be a true “team player” with a focus on excellence in service delivery

b.     Nurture creativity and energetic approaches to service delivery

c.     Set a positive example in all regards; exhibit integrity and honesty, and a passion for public service

d.     Ensure that the workgroup complies with Problem Management, Change Management, and Disaster Recovery procedures.

3.    Project / Task / Resource management

a.     Ensure adequate support for mission-critical services, specifically avoiding “one-deep” support conditions

b.     Set project / task priorities for staff consistent with the overall priorities of DTI and customers

c.     Maintain sufficiently close contact with ongoing projects / tasks; notify management in a timely manner of any projects / tasks that are out of compliance with plans

d.     Measure and manage staff resource utilization (staff hours); prepare projected resource plans and analyze vs. actual

4.    Administrative – as needed, including various meetings, management reporting, weekly reporting

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Lead Security Administrator

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in IT, related field, OR equivalent work experience.
  • Possess training or experience in Quality Process Management.
  • Possess experience in employee supervision.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Security Administration and Physical Security.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
