Introduction

 

The centerpiece of Killens Pond State Park, conveniently located in central Delaware, is the 66-acre millpond, which was established in the late 1700s. Before the pond was created, the Murderkill River and surrounding hardwood forest were sites of several Native American homes and hunting camps. Killens Pond became a state park in 1965.

Summary Statement

A variety of seasonal park positions may be available at Killens Pond State Park:

  1. Clerical/Campground Registrar - responsible for all aspects of customer service, answering phones, annual pass sales, completing opening and closing procedures, camper registration and check-in, database management and camp store procedures.
  2. Revenue Attendant - responsible for welcoming park visitors, disseminating information and collecting park entrance fees or boat rental fees.
  3. Park Maintenance - responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities and equipment in a park or a recreation area.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • May collect appropriate rental fees.
  • May register campers into computer database and generate reports as needed.
  • May assist with maintenance and rental equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Duties will vary for each position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Clerical/Campground Registrar

  1. Six Months Customer Service experience.
  2. Six months in using standard computer software programs for word processing.
  3. Experience working with money and making change.
  4. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Revenue Attendant

  1. Knowledge of working with money and making change.
  2. Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.  

Park Maintenance

  1. Must be at least 17 years of age.
  2. Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools.
  3. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
