Summary Statement

These summer leadership positions may be available:

(YCC) Assistant Program Manager this position will work primarily out of the YCC office in Dover assisting the Program Manager in all aspects of coordinating and maintaining the 2022 summer program.

Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Team Leader these positions will provide daily leadership to a team of 5 YCC members through 8 weeks of the summer, ensuring all projects are completed, and members receive a meaningful outdoor experience.

Essential Functions

  • Works directly with Program Manager to assist in project schedule and regular coordination of the program
  • Assist in planning and coordination of required weekly training and awareness activities.
  • Assist in grant and program tracking through reports, time cards, and surveys.
  • Provide or assist with daily supervision and guidance of a team of 5 YCC members aged 14-16 or 16-21 years.
  • Transport or may assist with transporting the team from home base to project site daily.
  • Assist in coordination and scheduling of team’s work projects.
  • Assist with outdoor projects at partner sites.
  • Actively engage in education and training activities.
  • Litter cleanup and waterway and shoreline cleanup.
  • Assist Conservation Technicians with grounds work throughout the park.
  • Other occasional projects may include: Historic building maintenance/preservation, assist other resource management projects (including wildlife management, and environmental education), Water quality monitoring, special events set up, logistics, station assistance, and tear down.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Team Leader

  1. Must be 20-26 years of age.
  2. Six months experience working with children and young adults such as academic/athletic tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer, classroom assistant or education teacher.
  3. Knowledge of natural, cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation.
  4. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

(YCC) Assistant Program Manager

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  2. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Work shirts, protective equipment and tools will be provided.

This is an environmental stewardship summer job, not a summer camp experience; the participants will work hard, sometimes in difficult conditions including mud, hot sun, and mosquitoes and flies
