The Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol is an elite group of men and women responsible for ocean rescue and beach safety at Delaware's award-winning state park beaches. Our beach patrol members receive advanced, nationally certified training, work in some of the most beautiful locations in the state, meet lifelong friends, compete in lifeguard competitions, and serve the people of Delaware, all while getting paid and having fun!

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Seasonal Ocean Lifeguard

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.

As a condition of hire applicants for this position must successfully pass a Swim/Run/Strength assessment.
As a condition of hire applicants for this position must successfully complete an In-Service Ocean Rescue Training Course and an Emergency Medical Responder Course.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1 B Visas.
Health & Fitness – Possesses adequate vision, hearing acuity, physical ability and stamina to perform the duties of an open water lifeguard as documented by a medical doctor, or the doctor’s designated physician’s assistant or ARNP (advanced registered Nurse Practitioner).
Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
