Originally built to protect the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia, Pea Patch Island also became a Union prison camp during the Civil War, housing up to as many as 12,595 Confederate prisoners of war at one time.

The seasonal Historical Park Interpreter is responsible for assisting with program development and conducting interpretive programs that will increase the public's awareness of the historical significance of their surrounding environment and foster the appreciation, enjoyment and utilization of Fort Delaware State Park. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
