Summary Statement

The principal responsibilities include strategic and technical management of an Enterprise Desktop/LAN (EDL) Team, who focuses on value-added initiatives, technologies, processes, policies, and procedures. Promotes leading-edge thinking and develops innovative and best practice IT strategies for systems that are aligned with government practices. Inspires and motivates staff by being a catalyst for creative problem-solving, solution generation, implementation, and teamwork. 

The EDL Technology Manager is responsible for the full life cycle of enterprise-wide desktop solutions, forecasting and developing an enterprise infrastructure and provides the foundation for highly-functional and stable systems.  The selected individual will have high expectations of accomplishment and extraordinary strategic and technical knowledge and people skills. This role also provides leadership and mentors EDL personnel.

The EDL Technology Manager will report to the EDL Technology Senior Manager.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with emphasis in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Network Security or a related field.
  • Possess certifications in Comp TIA A+, Comp TIA Network+, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA or a comparable certification is preferred.
  • Possess training or previous experience in Project Management and Software Life Cycle Development processes.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Possess a minimum of five years of experience working in an Information Technology environment, with at least one year in a supervisory position.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of technical experience providing end-user support for hardware/software deployments, maintenance/repairs of computing devices, phones and other end-user peripherals and basic system administration tasks.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience analyzing and deciding among alternative solutions to current and anticipated IT needs with emphasis on identifying creative solutions to IT problems within applicable constraints.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of experience in project leadership including defining, evaluating, leading, tracking and reporting on complex multi-resource projects.
  • Possess strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technicians, customers, other IT managers and senior IT management.

Conditions of Hire
