Summary Statement

The incumbent of this position conducts religious services such as; communion, confessions, scheduling of spiritual services as necessary, meet routinely with clients seeking spiritual guidance and praying with clients if requested. The incumbent must posses the capacity to communicate respectfully across cultures and with persons of different faiths. The incumbent will service Community Corrections Treatment Center and Sussex Community Corrections Treatment Center.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts religious services according to expressed religious preference of a facility’s population, which may include a variety of religions and belief systems (i.e. Christianity, Islam, Judaism).
     
  • Plans and schedules religious programs and instruction provided by community volunteers.
     
  • Provides religious and spiritual counsel to individual and families on a regular basis and in time of crisis.
     
  • Ensures moral and spiritual support on a consistent and emergency basis.
     
  • Maximizes benefits of volunteer programs.
     
  • Participates with other staff professionals to provide holistic care.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Chaplain I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Masters degree or higher in Divinity or related field.
  2. Possession of an ecclesiastical endorsement by a recognized religious denomination and approval by that body for institutional ministry.
  3. Knowledge of a clinical or institutional pastoral work.

Conditions of Hire
