Summary Statement

A class incumbent is responsible for managing and directing all program services and operations of a residential treatment module for delinquent youths within a secure facility.

  • Supervises 5-10 counseling and security staff.

Essential Functions

  • Administers and directs the operation of the module and the treatment programs.
     
  • Establishes and maintains all aspects of treatment module operations including safety, security, operating procedures and supplies.
     
  • Plans, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of staff.  Provides training and technical guidance as well as interpretation of policies and procedures.
     
  • Conducts the investigation of any irregularities and/or difficulties arising within the module among staff or clients; takes appropriate action as required.  Initiates disciplinary and corrective action as needed.
     
  • Responds to inquiries from concerned parties including all complaints and requests made by youth, families and community.
     
  • Provides most complex counseling for residents with special needs, i.e., sex offenders, drug abuse.
     
  • Supervises the implementation of individualized treatment plan for assigned youth.
     
  • Oversees the preparation of reports on the progress and behavior of youths.
     
  • Prepares reports and maintains records on unit activities.
     
  • Assesses the environment of the institution and instructs staff on the appropriate measures to assure a positive normative culture.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field.
  2. Three years experience in case management which includes assessing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating options and services to meet an individuals human service needs.
  3. Three years experience in making recommendations as part of a clients service plan such as clinical treatment, counseling, or determining eligibility for health or human services/benefits.
  4. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  5. Six months experience in narrative report writing.
  6. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.
