Summary Statement

The State of Delaware Department of Transportation Summer Internship Program provides engineering students with training to accompany their classroom knowledge. Under direct supervision, students will perform various duties that are directly related to their academic major. For approximately 12 weeks, Engineering Interns will work in an area of interest that may include any of the transportation engineering specialties. Positions will be located in Kent, Sussex and New Castle Counties. The length of an internship is approximately 12 weeks.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Civil Engineering Internship Students

Interested students must meet the following requirements:
1. Be at least 18 years of age or older.
2. Have completed their Freshman year seeking their Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
3. Maintain at least a 2.0 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.
4. Include a resume with application.
5. Furnish a current unofficial transcript from an accredited college to State of Delaware Department of Transportation by close of business on March 15, 2023 (Fax: 302-760-2771 or mail to Delaware Department of Transportation, PO Box 778, Dover, DE 19903.

Internship students are paid on an hourly basis and may be in full-time or part-time work status. Benefits, earned leave, or paid holidays are not associated with this job title. Salary information will be discussed during interviews. 

Conditions of Hire
