The Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy uses an integrated approach of applied science, education, policy development, and incentives to address Delaware’s climate, energy, and coastal challenges. The office of Climate and Sustainability is preparing Delaware for the effects of climate change by working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the state.

Summary Statement

This position will assist the Division with climate change and transportation related project management, research, policy analysis, and education and outreach. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting programs and initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the effects of climate change in Delaware.  Specific projects include research and analysis of state and regional policies for alternative fuel vehicles, processing and tracking rebates for alternative fuel vehicles, developing social media and education resources, supporting policy workgroups, assisting with the implementation of Delaware’s Climate Action Plan, and supporting stakeholder and partner engagement.

  • Research and analyze policies, data and information.
  • Evaluate costs, benefits, and consequences of environmental and transportation policies.
  • Develop forms, spreadsheets, records and reports to document progress of adaptation recommendations.
  • Develop, promote and market strategies for the implementation of plans, policies and programs.
  • Involve and educate special interest groups, customers, and public officials via variety of forums, e.g., seminars, workshops, conferences, newsletters, assessments, and analytical reports.        
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.
  2. Six months experience in climate change or transportation related science, policy, or communications.
  3. Six months experience in public outreach and marketing strategies.
  4. Six months experience in technical report writing.
  5. Knowledge of interpreting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  6. Knowledge of analyzing and evaluating data.
