Summary Statement

This position is responsible for assisting with day to day operations and maintenance of the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center.  Daily job duties include performing grounds maintenance; operating and maintaining trap, skeet, 5-stand, rifle, pistol, and archery ranges; maintaining supply inventories; supervising seasonal range staff; preparing fiscal documents for range sales; and reviewing seasonal staff timesheets.

  • Coordinates day-to-day staffing schedule.
     
  • Maintains supply inventory.
     
  • Prepares educational materials and programs.
     
  • Maintains daily reports and records.
     
  • Schedules equipment and facility maintenance.
     
  • Participates in design and construction of facilities.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Rangemaster
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Six months experience in firearms use, care and safety.
  2. Six months experience in maintaining and repairing groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears, and trimmers.
  3. Knowledge of operating a shooting range operation such as skeet, trap, clay, archery or target.
  4. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Additional Posting Information

Incumbents will be subject to baseline and annual blood lead monitoring, which will be paid by the employer.
