Summary Statement

Incumbents in this class plan and oversee the on-line exception processing of personal income tax documents.

  • Supervises staff of  8-10 paraprofessional/technical, merit, and casual/seasonal.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of subordinate staff.
     
  • Reviews and evaluates the operation of image based processing systems.
     
  • Trains staff in the application of tax law and regulations.
     
  • Develops and implements training programs.
     
  • Conducts more difficult examination of tax documents and records to determine if sufficient data was provided.  Resolves errors and takes action needed to complete processing.
     
  • Determines tax liabilities; computes amount of tax; authorizes refunds.
     
  • Maintains contact with taxpayers and their representatives to resolve errors.
     
  • Drafts new and revises existing policies, procedures, and work rules.
     
  • Works with system programmers in the design and maintenance of the processing system.  Performs testing and suggests revisions in system design.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Revenue Production Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in tax liability determination which includes analyzing and evaluating tax records in order to determine tax liability in accordance with federal or Delaware tax laws, rules, and regulations. 
  2. Six months experience in staff training.
  3. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data. 
  4. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
