Summary Statement

An incumbent in this class is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting and directing a statewide Management Information System which crosses multiple jurisdictions and branches of government.

  • Coordinates and directs the development, implementation and execution of a Management Information System that meets the strategic objectives of State government.
  • Responsible for an annual budget that provides for the maintenance, development and technology necessary to support a statewide integrated Management Information System.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of professional "knowledge" workers for statewide oversight and coordination of management resource information.

  • Organizes, staffs, budgets and directs a statewide strategic Management Resource Information System.
  • Establishes long and short-term goals in order to meet strategic objectives of an integrated statewide automated information system.
  • Monitors and evaluates system requirements in order to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Develops, plans and implements major software enhancements and applications.
  • Oversees the training and development of staff and agency personnel on the technical procedural use of system information.
  • Develops project planning policies and procedures for statewide use.
  • Implements special projects, responding to various requirements for information not otherwise provided by current system capabilities.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Strategic Information Systems Manager
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Three years experience in information technology project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on status of IT projects.
  2. Three years experience in designing, developing and maintaining information systems.
  3. Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
