Summary Statement

Principal responsibilities include the planning, requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, system integration, and documenting of software components of complex, multi-tier government systems.

Responsible for developing software for new programs from provided technical specifications, modifications to existing programs, and system integration of off the shelf Products.  Participates in customer meeting to define requirements. Prepares detailed estimates for project time, to meet prescribed functionality, in order to obtain approval to proceed. Tests and debugs programs for the delivery of quality applications. Creates system and user documentation.  Monitors ongoing program and system performance. Generates ideas to improve system design and performance. Interact will all internal teams and customer to ensure successful implementation.  

The Associate Software Engineer must be a fast learner with excellent communication and problem solving skills, and able to work with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

The Associate Software Engineer must be able to work well with a diverse group of team members to deliver software solutions on time, on budget and within specifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Associate Software Engineer

  • Possess an associate degree in an IT discipline OR equivalent work experience.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year experience in development of Client Server and web applications that includes full lifecycle development of object oriented systems.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of education or work experience of Java platform, .Net platform, Cloud solutions or mobile development.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year education or work experience in development of client/server or web application development.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year education or work experience in using SQL Server 2008+ or Oracle 10g+.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
