Summary Statement

The incumbent assigns, assesses, evaluates, monitors and supervises therapeutic activity programs and staff, in supporting residents to meet their activity and recreational needs both individually and in groups. Duties: scheduling a robust activities calendar, assigning staff to complete activities, assessments and person-centered treatment plans and outcomes, providing activity/recreational therapy education to staff and families, completing and reviewing assessments and documentation to ensure regulations and standards are met. This position functions as Administrator on Duty as assigned.

  • Administers treatment, applying knowledge of applicable therapy discipline. 
     
  • Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of individual's data.
     
  • Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Instructs, motivates and assists individuals in performance of various activities and use of support devices.
      
  • Instructs individuals, their families and other treatment staff in treatment procedures.
       
  • Prepares records and reports on individual's progress.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapist III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher.
  2. At least two years experience providing professional therapy services.
  3. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or eligible for certification.

Conditions of Hire

Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.
