Summary Statement

The incumbent is responsible for clinical screening, assessment, evaluation, treatment and counseling for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and family planning services. Duties: providing annual gynecological and breast exams, pap testing, pregnancy testing, birth control prescriptions and supplies, options and sterilization counseling, education and referral, phlebotomy and point of care testing (HIV and wet mount testing), urethral gram staining and STI culturing, traveling to clinic sites in Kent and Sussex Counties, providing immunization and Red Cross emergency shelter services.

Essential Functions

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. 
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse license or temporary permit for a Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse license in Women's Health, Family Health or related specialty area.
  2. Possession of Delaware prescriptive authority or eligibility for Delaware prescriptive authority.

Note:  Applicants qualifying based on a temporary license must have applied for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Delaware or hold a valid Delaware Registered Nurse license and have graduated from a Master’s or certificate advanced practice registered nurse program.  The applicant must obtain the temporary Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license permit prior to hire date and then possess full licensure credentials within a two year, three month period.   To obtain full licensure, candidates must complete 1000 clock hours of training and/or pass the certifying exam for their clinical nursing specialty, if applicable.
