An incumbent in this class is responsible for dispatching vehicles from a centralized motor pool, tracking and monitoring vehicle assignments, scheduling and coordinating service work and inspecting vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition.

- Dispatches vehicles from a centralized motor pool; tracks and monitors vehicle assignments through the use of an automated information system.
- Coordinates, arranges and delivers vehicles for routine service, repair and warranty activities to contractual automotive vendors following approved purchasing practices.
- Creates and maintains work orders, enters repairs, parts, and labor descriptions into an automated information system, schedules work with vendors and estimates/calculates costs.
- Inspects vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition.
- Performs routine maintenance activities such as adding oil or fluids, filling window washer reservoirs and checking and adjusting tire pressure. May change tires, batteries, filters or wiper blades when necessary.
- Prepares and maintains records of vehicle activity.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fleet Services Technician
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and servicing.
- Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
- Knowledge of record keeping.
- Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals.
Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
