Summary Statement

The Seasonal Park Maintenance positions will be responsible for assisting maintenance staff with all aspects of maintaining the park grounds and its facilities at the newest Delaware State Park, Auburn Valley State Park.  This will include, but not be limited to, mowing grass, weeding and mulching landscape beds,  pruning/trimming, picking up and removing trash, cleaning restrooms, the cleaning and repair of structures, and participation in projects involving carpentry and welding work. Employees will be required to work outside, in extreme weather conditions, and in areas involving heights. The positions are required to operate light duty equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and other lawn equipment.  Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
  • Performs custodial services in restrooms, offices and other buildings.
  • Operation of landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
  • Set-up, monitoring and clean-up support for park programs and special events.
  • Maintains good public relations with park visitors and staff.
  • Provides excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
