Summary Statement

The incumbent of this position is an integral component of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill’s clinical leadership team. Work includes directing a large nursing department with both skilled nursing facility, (SNF), and intermediate care facility, (ICF), residents, in accordance with federal and state Long Term Care (LTC) regulations and standards of nursing practice. Additional responsibilities include: supervision of clinical nursing practice which includes management responsibilities for policy and procedures, quality assurance, survey preparedness and performance initiatives. The incumbent will collaborate with interdisciplinary team leaders to provide the highest possible quality of care and quality of life for all residents.

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
     
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
     
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
     
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
     
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. 
     
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Director
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. At least three years experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care Nursing OR a license or temporary permit to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  2. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  3. Six months experience in budget development which includes developing a budget, analyzing financial data and making long and short range plans and projections.
  4. Six months experience in developing policies and procedures.
  5. Six months experience in operations management which includes planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
