Summary Statement

This class incumbent performs technical administrative work involving project management, review and approval and technical assistance regarding mechanical assistance and instrument support systems in all new or remodeled State buildings.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and analyze all review and design of facilities support systems on initial architectural and structural plans.
     
  • Conduct periodic inspections of mechanical, electrical, instrumental systems located in/around new and existing state-owned or state-leased facilities and formulate recommendations based on findings.
     
  • Analyze system design specifications, drawings and bidding documents for physical feasibility, code compliance, cost effectiveness, and completeness.
     
  • Prepare reports correspondence, design review of specs, drawings, bidding packages for State agencies lacking engineering support.
     
  • Conduct building surveys to address condition of buildings; structural components and performance of systems operations.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Building Support Systems Engineer
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Professional Engineering License.
  2. Three years experience in construction project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of construction projects.
  3. Three years experience in interpreting national and local building and fire codes.
  4. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
