Summary Statement

The incumbent is a member of the Division’s senior leadership team and is responsible for supervision of all the nurse surveyors in the Office of Long-Term Care Survey and Licensing.  Work includes establishing survey schedules, dispatching survey teams to review complaints, reviewing/approving all survey reports and recommending to Division Leadership plans of correction as a result of surveys conducted.  Serves as the primary liaison to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for all policies, procedures, performance standards or issues involving annual or complaint surveys. The incumbent may draft State regulations and represent Division on statewide task forces and committees relating to nursing initiatives.

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
     
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
     
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
     
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
     
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. 
     
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Administrator
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. At least three years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  3. Knowledge of budget development which includes developing a budget, analyzing financial data and making long and short range plans and projections.
  4. Knowledge of developing policies and procedures.
  5. Knowledge of staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
