Summary Statement

The Senior Telecommunications Technologist will be responsible for the architectural design, server operating system, runtime, configuration, and application deployment of the State’s client server infrastructure and inventory. This also includes the support and monitoring of mission critical systems for all supported State agencies.

Selective Requirement

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements.  Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.

The candidate should possess a minimum of one year experience with MidRange Server Support technologies like LINUX, Windows Server 2016, 2012 & 2008, Red Hat/CentOS 6 & 7.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

Experience with the following technologies is preferred:
• VMWare’s virtualization platform(s) and technologies
• Middleware Support – SFTP, Oracle IAM, SharePoint, XML, Tivoli TSM, VEEAM, BackupExec
• Web Engineering Support – WebSphere, Apache, IIS, WebTrends, XML
• Configuration Management – Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or other configuration management tools

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Senior Telecommunications Technologist:

  • Possess a minimum of four (4) weeks technical training over the past two years or ten (10) weeks over the past five years. Training must be documented, and must have been from a recognized training facility requiring examinations.
  • Possess a minimum of five (5) years hands-on experience in enterprise environments.
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years advanced experience with system hardware including servers and switches.
  • Possess a minimum of two (2) years advanced problem resolution, communication and writing skills.
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years advanced knowledge in system analysis.

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory fingerprint based criminal background check administered by the Delaware State Police is required as a Condition of Hire.
