Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position will oversee the Long Term Care (LTC) Food and Nutrition Services departments at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill and Governor Bacon Health Center and will work directly with Hospital Administration/Director, Food Service Directors, and Nutritionists. The incumbent will utilize food/food safety knowledge in order to identify changes and implementation of changes and project development, audit/budget and compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the daily operation and activities of administrative services, food services, general patient maintenance and care, institutional security and grounds and plan maintenance.
     
  • Supervises administrative functions such as legal services, volunteer services, communications and records.
     
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures and monitors the quality of programs recommending and initiating changes as required.
     
  • Prepares operating and capital budget, monitors contracts, and insures operation within budgetary constraints.
     
  • Prepares various records and reports describing statistical, fiscal and personnel data of the facility.
     
  • Attends meetings, conferences and seminars and participates in hospital committees involved in quality assurance, infection control, etc.
     
  • May supervise personnel management functions for the facility.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Hospital Administrator I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in health care facility administration which includes administering, directing and coordinating the business and service support functions necessary for the provision of appropriate health care.
  2. Six months experience in budget administration which includes managing, developing, analyzing and implementing budgets; developing strategic plans and establishing internal control.
  3. Six months experience in operations management which includes planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.
  4. Knowledge of interpreting licensure, certification and accreditation standards.

Conditions of Hire

As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.    

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
