Summary Statement

The position is responsible for providing graphic design and individual project management services to support the Creative Services section of the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation. This includes production of a wide variety of graphics, layout and design produced for Delaware State Parks programs and initiatives, as well as for the Department and other agencies and partners when needed. Duties include receiving, tracking, creating, evaluating, correcting, and printing of graphic design projects.

Essential Functions

  • Create and produce graphic design, ensuring that it meets the needs of the Division.
  • Produces materials such as displays, exhibits, booklets, brochures, maps, flyers, posters, banners, signs, illustrations and advertisements.
  • Uses various tools, equipment, supplies and materials such as computers, various software packages, and/or full-color and large-format printers and copiers to produce professional, high-quality and appealing materials. 
  • Applies advanced graphic design principles, practices, methods, techniques and processes to produce professional, high-quality materials within set deadlines, utilizing current computer software.
  • Provides electronic print-ready files for offsite print production and review and approve vendor proofs.
  • Applies agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures in maintaining and processing agency information.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Creative Services Graphic Designer

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.

  1. Associates degree or higher in Graphic Design or 2 years’ experience using standard design software programs on more than one platform to produce a variety of printed and digital materials.
  2. Six months experience in electronic file production for offset, digital and other printing processes.
  3. Knowledge of advanced design principles, practices, methods, techniques and processes used in on-site, offset and digital production of graphics, layout and design.
