Summary Statement

This position requires the ability to deliver USDA commodities to a variety of facilities statewide as well as the receiving and warehousing of commodities. Incumbent must be able to operate a variety of heavy equipment including box trucks, tractor trailer rigs and fork-lifts as well as a computerized inventory system. Position requires a functional capability evaluation and the possession of a CDL Class A driver's license.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Possession of  a valid CDL Class A driver's license (not suspended, revoked or canceled, or disqualified from driving) OR obtain one during the 90-day probationary period.

The applicant will be required to log into the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMSCA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and provide electronic consent for the Department to conduct a query checking if the applicant is prohibited from operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) due to an unresolved drug and alcohol program violation. Applicants with a current and valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) must consent during the pre-employment screening process. Applicants who obtain their CDL within the first 90 days of employment must consent at the time the CDL is obtained. 

Essential Functions

  • Collects, receives, marks, sorts, stacks, distributes, and inventories supplies, materials, equipment, parts, or other articles.
     
  • Locates and selects material, supplies, tools, equipment, parts, or other articles from stockroom, warehouse, storage yard, or other related areas.
     
  • Adjusts, repairs, assembles, or prepares products, supplies, equipment, or other items according to specifications or customer requirements.
     
  • Operates a variety of equipment for the purpose of preparing, inspecting, weighing, evaluating, recording, marking, or transporting supplies, materials, equipment, or other articles.
     
  • Records type, quantity, value, or location of material, supplies, equipment or other articles received, shipped, used, or issued. 
     
  • Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, instruments, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations; ensures security of inventory. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Supply, Storage and Distribution Technician II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. One year experience in inventory control such as ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory; disbursing materials, supplies and equipment.
  2. One year experience in operating material handling equipment such as medium size trucks, forklifts, hydraulic lifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and dollies to stock/transport materials. 
  3. One year experience in creating reports which includes combining and presenting data from multiple sources in an organized format.

Conditions of Hire

As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire. 

Functional Capability Evaluation:  Upon a conditional offer, you must take a Functional Capability Evaluation to assess your strength and agility to meet the physical requirements of the position.
