Introduction

This position monitors data collection activities, investigation and entry of new and existing HIV case data. This position completes data transmissions to the Centers for Disease Control, ensure all electronic data is quality controlled and accurately accounted for.  Duties: assisting in monitoring new HIV cases and perinatal HIV exposure cases, tracking consent records, gift card outlays, scheduling client interviews and medical record abstractions, assisting in completing several annual and bi-annual HIV related reports and involved in HIV cluster detection and reaction.

An incumbent is responsible for maintaining statistical data and preparing statistical reports.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains computerized case registry; prepares statistical reports on the number of cases.
     
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of reported cases by reviewing hospital and doctor's files on cases.
      
  • Inputs results of surveys into computer; extracts various statistical data from the computer.
     
  • Maintains data collected on clients counseled and tested by the program; issues related reports.
     
  • Develop procedures and implements Prevalence Studies of exposure to communicable diseases.
     
  • Edits quarterly newsletter for the purpose of distributing Aids statistics to the medical community.
     
  • Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Statistician
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
  2. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
  3. Knowledge of descriptive statistics such as the mean, median, mode or standard deviation.
