Summary StatementA class incumbent is responsible for providing instruction and supervision to a group of chronically mentally ill or visually impaired/multihandicapped or developmentally disabled sheltered workshop clients.
Nature and ScopeAn incumbent in this class functions under the supervision of a Sheltered Workshop Production Foreman and is involved in instructing clients in production techniques and procedures and providing support to clients to assist them in developing social and vocational skills. A significant aspect of the work involves establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients. A class incumbent is responsible for maintaining a smooth production flow throughout the work area. This involves monitoring client work performance to insure productivity and quality control, compliance with safety procedures and to note behavior changes. The incumbent in this position assists in the evaluation of clients production, work skills, habits and attitudes to determine their rate of pay.
