Summary Statement

A class incumbent is responsible for performing advanced behavior support work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Nature and Scope

A class incumbent reports to an administrative and clinical superior. Incumbents prepare and implement behavioral support strategies and plans through testing, direct client observation and evaluation reports of direct care personnel.  Incumbents administer, score and report results of evaluations and assessments. Work includes interacting with other disciplines in the treatment planning process. A significant aspect of the work is the necessity to interact with professionals assigned to community- based and/or institutional facilities to provide consultative services. An incumbent in this class has responsibility for the more difficult and/complex cases requiring greater skill in the development and implementation of behavior support strategies and plans.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees and participates in the conduct of evaluations and assessments of client functioning, and prepares and implements behavioral support strategies and plans as a result of direct client observation, evaluation/assessment results and a review of reports prepared by professional and direct care personnel.
  • Serves as consultant in the development and implementation of appropriate treatment plans for the individual client. Provides workshops and training to direct care, paraprofessional and professional staff in the methods and techniques of implementing behavioral support strategies and plans.
  • Administers, scores and reports on evaluation and assessment of client functioning.
  • Reviews treatment plans for clients in community-based facilities to ensure quality of care. Develops and implements changes in treatment plans to correct deficiencies and monitors on-going application of treatment plans.
  • Serves on various committees and working groups reviewing client progress and/or studying issues and programs.
  • Interacts and supports the work of other professionals including but not limited to Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Psychological Assistants.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Senior Behavior Analyst
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Science or related field.
  2. Three years experience in developing functional assessment plans by assessing behavioral needs and determining behavioral objectives.
  3. Three years experience in evaluating and assessing client functioning using a variety of formal tests and survey tools.
  4. Three years experience in making recommendations as part of a clients service plan such as clinical treatment, counseling, or determining eligibility for health or human services/benefits.
  5. Three years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  6. Six months experience in staff training.
