The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS), is now accepting applications for an exciting Director of Communications opportunity reporting directly to the Senior Advisor of the Commissioner. 

THE ROLE: 
You will assist in leading, developing and growing the agency’s communications team and will be integral in the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan for DAS and its various divisions. You will support DAS’s mission, program goals and objectives; and provide transparency and access of information to constituents, other agencies and other branches of government.

We’re looking for someone who is analytical and likes identifying the best way to convey critical messaging to various stakeholders. Advanced computer skills and proficiency in a variety of platforms as well as experience with web and mobile content is expected. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Developing media campaigns to tell the Agency’s story, including who DAS is, the services we provide, the people and talent that work here, and the impacts of their work on our constituents.
  • Creating, drafting, and editing press releases, press advisories, editorials, brochures, internal communications, social media postings, and other presentation materials.
  • Supporting DAS divisions with internal and external communications, and content surrounding public relations initiatives.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in the department’s communications technology and developing effective solutions.  
  • Managing project implementations as assigned under agency and statutory authority.
  • Support the management of the DAS website copywriting, design, and other updates as needed.
  • Drafting and editing speeches.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
