The Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Public Division, is recruiting for a full-time Developmental Services Assistant Regional Residential Manager, that will be based out of our Central Office located in Hartford, CT. This full-time, 40 hour per week position that works a Monday through Friday schedule. 
  • Although first shift hours are assigned, candidate must be flexible to meet the needs of the agency
  • Statewide travel may be expected
In this role, you would oversee, monitor, ensure adherence, and provide direction in regard to compliance on the department’s respiratory protection plan for the Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) and Community Living Arrangements (CLAs) within the public division. This includes maintaining oversite to ensure the safety of individuals quality of life by monitoring program compliance and environmental safety issues.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Developmental Services this class is accountable for assisting the Developmental Services Regional Residential Manager in the implementation and management of programs for individuals in agency community and campus residential settings or in the development and management of contracts for private community living arrangements.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Overseeing and monitoring the department’s Respiratory Protection Plan which ensures the safety of individuals, staff, and visitors within the public division
  • Ensuring adherence and provide direction on compliance to all safety rules and regulations set forth by the respiratory protection plan
  • Keeping abreast of all OSHA requirements, updates and/or changes; monitor and track annual medical evaluations for staff that require the use of an N-95 respirator as well as the annual fit testing and annual training
  • Training and conducting fit testing
  • Participating in the training of staff
  • Ensuring and tracking that managers and designees are well trained to do the required fit testing
  • Tracking the supply of the N-95 respirators
  • Tracking the supply of other required equipment and/or training equipment that is necessary
  • Overseeing and ensuring the safety of individuals quality of life by monitoring program compliance and environmental safety issues

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Considerable knowledge of theory and methods used in dealing with personality and emotional development problems of individuals with intellectual disabilities particularly with concerns about how these are dealt with in a residential setting; considerable knowledge of how to establish, maintain and change residential systems and programs of care for individuals including ICF requirements; considerable knowledge of ancillary needs of a residential program; knowledge of and ability to apply management principles and techniques; knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws, statutes and regulations; knowledge of interdisciplinary approach to program planning; knowledge of human rights of individuals with intellectual disabilities; knowledge of scope of services provided by major disciplines including psychology, social work and medicine for individuals with intellectual disabilities; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a residential program for individuals with intellectual disabilities in a direct care or clinical services setting at the level of Developmental Services Residential Program Supervisor 1, Psychology Associate Specialist, Developmental Specialist 2 or Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with current OSHA requirements and/or regulations

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess a current license or certificate to practice the specialty in Connecticut. This requirement applies to those specialties requiring a license to practice by statute.
2. Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
