We are currently seeking a Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor to join us at Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH)!
We seek an experienced and qualified individual for a meaningful role as a Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor (PCN 25304), within our Rehabilitation Services department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week role. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. We are centrally located at 1000 Silver Street in Middletown.
As the Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor you will oversee the clinical, programmatic, and operational components of the Rehabilitation Department. This will include oversight of many services, including but not limited to:
- Chaplaincy
- Beautician
- Rehabilitation
- Vocational
- Occupational therapy
The Connecticut Valley Hospital boasts a rich history first opening its doors over 150 years ago in 1868. As the State’s public hospital we provide treatment of mental illness and currently comprised of 18 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). Selection Plan

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Departments of Mental Health and Addiction Services and
Developmental Services, this class is accountable for directing a clinical
division, a clinical discipline or a clinical program within a specified
geographic area.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Manages the staff and operations of a clinical program, discipline or
specialized area; coordinates, plans and manages program activities; formulates
program goals and objectives; develops or assists in the development and
implementation of related policy; interprets and administers pertinent laws;
monitors and evaluates staff; prepares or assists in preparation of program budget;
maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside of program who
might impact on program activities; ensures program compliance with standards
established by outside monitoring agencies; participates in grant and contract
preparation and administration; manages the recruitment, selection and
retention of program staff; ensures compliance with quality assurance findings
and recommendations; promotes cultural diversity in workplace and ensures
client rights; identifies and plans training and development needs; analyzes
problems at program level and takes appropriate action; initiates workforce
planning and monitors staff utilization to meet identified goals; prepares or
oversees preparation of reports; investigates and responds to critical incidents;
may represent program in grievances and hearings; may perform clinical duties;
performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Considerable knowledge of principles, practices and issues of behavioral
health care; considerable knowledge of resources available to client

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of professional experience in Behavioral Health Care and a Master’s degree in a clinical discipline, Public Health Administration, Health Care Administration or Hospital Administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been supervising professional staff.
For state employees this is interpreted at the level of a Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor, Developmental Services Supervisor of Case Management, Nurse Supervisor or Supervising Clinician.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in an Inpatient Hospital
- Experience providing operational leadership
- Experience leading Recovery Based Trauma Informed Services
- Experience with Hospital Regulations including Joint Commission hospital standard, CMS Standards of Participation, DPH licensure and additional state and federal regulatory agencies
- Experience in behavioral health systems
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Department of Developmental Services: Incumbents in this class may be required to maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse or psychologist.
Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services: Incumbents in this class must maintain the appropriate current license for clinical social work, marital and family therapist, professional counselor, registered nurse, psychologist or alcohol and drug counselor.
