seeking a Medical Director for our General Psychiatry Division to join our
passionate team!
We seek an experienced and qualified individual for a meaningful
role as a DMHAS Medical Division Director at Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) within the General
Psychiatry Division (GPD). This role will report to the Chief Medical Officer and provide direct administrative and clinical supervision to the psychiatrists and psychiatric APRNs of GPD, along with providing clinical oversight of the interdisciplinary treatment teams. This position is located centrally at 1000 Silver
Street in Middletown, CT. This is a full-time, 1st shift, 40 hours per week
position, with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position number is 126999.
GPD provides recovery oriented inpatient
treatment services to a diverse client patient population throughout the state. In addition to the general psychiatry units, there are three units providing
specialized program service areas: Young Adult Services (YAS) Unit,
Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injury (ABI) Unit as well as several units servicing
the Older Adult population. Admissions to GPD are
facilitated by our Centralized Admission Department. Referrals are made through
the appropriate LMHA and screened in the Admissions Office. The Admissions
Office works closely with the Office of the Commissioner to best meet the needs
of all referrals.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Assist the Chief
Medical Officer in development, implementation, and evaluation of agency-wide policies, goals, and objectives;
- Be responsible for
coordination of accreditation activities;
- Serve as agency
liaison with external medical, behavioral health planning, advisory
groups, courts, and other state medical and service agencies;
- Participate in quality
assurance studies and investigations;
- Develop processes and practices
to improve quality and cost of patient care;
- Conduct critical incident
reviews;
- Chair and/or participate
in any risk management committee such as Division
Review Committee;
- Manage the acuity of the
patients within GPD;
- Conduct oversight of
patients on Special Observation ensuring patient safety;
- Consult on high-risk
patients and follow-up on their progress;
- Attend and participate in case
conferences chaired by the DMHAS Medical Director; and
- Assess and treat patients
when necessary.

In the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Connecticut Valley Hospital, this class is accountable for administering agency medical, clinical and behavioral health services programs and operations, within a division.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience in a hospital, clinic or correctional facility as a board certified psychiatrist.

Incumbents in this class must possess a license to practice medicine and surgery in Connecticut.
