Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to highway electrical emergency duties (working at heights in a bucket truck, on highways and secondary roads, performing high voltage repairs to highway lighting and traffic signals), also including snow and ice removal, whenever services are needed; mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30. Various storm events will require employees to stay at work for the duration of the storm; which at times could be up to period of several days, to include holidays and weekends.

The candidate pool resulting from this posting may be used to fill Transportation Maintainer 2 (Electrical) vacancies that occur at the Colchester Electrical Maintenance facility in the next twelve (12) months. Candidates are also required to submitted a thoroughly completed Connecticut Department of Transportation Commercial Driver Supplement (CTDOT-CDL-1) form.

DUTIES: Survey monument setting; burning and cutting with acetylene torch; flagger(traffic control); may assist a Material Storage Supervisor with stores section material handling; performing moderately skilled tasks in one or more of the following areas or trades: construction, maintenance, mechanical repair, electrical, carpentry, masonry, welding, plumbing and painting; relief ferry mate, drawbridge attendant and/or rest area attendant
