In the State of Connecticut, Housatonic Community College (HCC) is a constituent unit of the Board of Regents for Higher Education (BOR), Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU). We are recruiting for a full-time Maintainer to work on our campus located in Bridgeport, CT. This position is 1st shift, with operating hours of 7:30am - 3:30pm. This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Incumbers must be willing and able to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that effect campus operations. Applicants must be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends or holidays).

In a state agency this class is accountable for performing basic tasks of an unskilled nature (e.g. requiring little prior experience or training; most tasks can be learned quickly on the job) in one or several of the following areas:
- building and equipment maintenance (operational and remedial)
- grounds care
- food services
- operation of trucks of less than five ton capacity
- parking garage
