The State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services' Bureau of Enterprise Systems and Technology (BEST) – Infrastructure Services Division, is currently accepting applications for an VPN Analyst (ITA2). The position is full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and located at 55 Farmington Ave. in Hartford, CT.

This position is responsible for Branch to Branch Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Remote Access Virtual Private Network (VPN) management, design and support on CISCO Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) devices across multiple datacenters. Multifactor authentication support and administration is required utilizing RSA solution with dispersed primary server and replicas. Providing network troubleshooting and design for all Executive Branch agencies and the enterprise. The position will work closely with various Information Technology Staff, vendors, management, and customer agency personnel on a daily basis along with various auditors for both Federal and State regulatory compliance.

The selected candidate will report directly to the (IT Supervisor).

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency Information Technology (IT) environment, this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of information technology tasks and project coordination work involving infrastructure systems support, security and application development in an IT environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The primary responsibilities of this position will involve:

• Providing administration and support coverage for the Enterprise Internet Filtering;
• Utilizing the iBoss solution to ensure agencies are able to address business needs;
• Developing, designing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery plans along with risk analysis of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) environment;
• Monitoring the Virtual Private Network (VPN) environment for malicious activity;
• Infrastructure support, troubleshooting and designing are an important role served by this position and performing related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Six (6) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations, programming, systems/software development or another IT related support area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of the General Experience must have been performing professional information technology work in such areas as:  installation and support of microcomputer hardware, software and operating systems; analysis, design and development of information systems network hardware and software installation and support; network hardware and/or software problem diagnosis and resolution; performing any closely related professional IT function. NOTE: For state employees this is interpreted at the level of Information Technology Analyst 1.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

1. College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling six (6) months of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.


2. A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess:

• 5 years’ experience troubleshooting Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP);
• 3 years’ experience with CISCO Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Virtual Private Network (VPN) management;
• Experience with cybersecurity standards;
• Experience problem solving in an enterprise environment;
• Experience with multifactor authentication methods;
• Certification in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Association).
