The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of a Storekeeper in the Inventory Management Unit located in West Willington. The work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever his or her services are needed. There is mandatory winter overtime which occurs November 1 through April 30 each year.
This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of various stores duties, both manual and clerical, such as receiving, storing, issuing, inspecting, inventorying, and the like; may be in charge of a small storeroom or be a specialist in a phase of total stores operation. Applicants invited to interview will be requested to supply a copy of their Driver's License. Current state employees invited to interview must bring their two most recent service ratings at the time of interview.
*New State employees start at the minimum of the salary range. The entry level rate for this class will be ten (10%) percent below Step 1 of the salary grade. Upon completion of the initial working test period the incumbent’s salary will be adjusted to the TC pay plan, Step 1 of the salary grade for this class.

• Knowledge of stockroom operations/material handling, inventory control, and automotive and truck parts
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Knowledge of general housekeeping
• Knowledge of fuel station records and methods of requisitioning, handling, storing and issuing of materials and supplies
• Computer experience
• Some interpersonal skills
• Some oral and written communication skills
• Ability to keep accurate stock records and inventories
