The mission of the State of Connecticut, Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) is to eliminate discrimination through civil and human rights law enforcement and to establish equal opportunity and justice for all persons within the state through advocacy and education.
CHRO has a current opportunity for a Human Rights and Opportunities Trainee in our Southwest Region office located in Bridgeport , CT. The target class for this position is Human Rights and Opportunities Representative.
This position will be trained to ;
Develop, review, implement and monitor specific remedies, programs and projects designed to promote equal opportunity, affirmative action and intergroup relations.
Develop cooperative law enforcement and compliance liaison activities with community organizations, business and federal, state and local governmental agencies.
Perform enforcement and investigative work with gradually increasing responsibilities.
Investigate discriminatory practices complaints.
Review state agency affirmative action plans and contractor set-aside plans.
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
