The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for the position of Transportation Maintainer 4 (Highly Skilled Tree Climber) located in the Waterbury Maintenance Facility. This position is responsible for the performance of highly skilled tasks in the cutting and climbing of trees in the maintenance of state highways and roadways. The work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week.
Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice removal, whenever his or her services are needed; mandatory winter overtime from November 1 through April 30. Incumbents in this class will be required to have a 30-mile residency from the job location.
Applicants invited to interview will be requested to supply a copy of their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, with Tank Endorsement, valid Medical Examiner's Card (MEC); thoroughly completed Connecticut Department of Transportation Commercial Driver Supplement (CTDOT-CDL-1).
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee of the Department of Transportation, who has permanent state status*, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. For employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least six months (full-time or full-time equivalent).

The candidate pool resulting from this posting may be used to fill future positions in this classification in the Waterbury Maintenance Facility, in the next twelve (12) months.
